What Are the Roots of Aviation Anxiety?

A fear of flying ( known as aviophobia) isn’t unusual or surprising. Even baby birds feel nervous when they embark on their first flight, even though they’re born with wings and an instinct to fly. Us human beings, on the other hand, obviously haven’t evolved to fly. We are designed to walk and run at ground level, going no higher than the odd tree!

If you struggle with aviophobia, you’re not alone. Not surprisingly, many people often feel fearful about flying. It can also be linked to other fears, such as a fear of heights (acrophobia), fear of enclosed spaces (claustrophobia), or general anxiety disorders.

The film industry often comes up with outrageous scenarios set on planes, most of which are complete fantasy. The media also tend to focus on air crashes, mostly because they are so rare. If you’re already of a nervous disposition, hearing the stewards go into detail about how to behave in an emergency can often lead to catastrophic thinking.

However, the reality is that flying is much safer than travelling by car. Through the power of hypnosis, you can hopefully conquer this fear and open up new opportunities to explore the world.
